2x2 Coaching

We help you build better relationships where it matters most.

What is 2x2 coaching?

2x2 coaching is a feedback and coaching model designed to facilitate meaningful, constructive conversations between two people who are in a relationship with each other, along with two coaches. The goal of 2x2 coaching is to facilitate improvement in the functioning of the relationship, and to build strategic and / or relational alignment.

What should we expect from WBT in 2x2 coaching?

Our responsibility to both clients, in 2:2 coaching, is to create the container to deepen their understanding of one another, clarify working agreements, and develop alignment as a continuous work-in-progress. We commit to encouraging both clients along a journey to develop their emotional intelligence in real time, together. We interject with interventions in real-time, and we provide brief, bold, and direct feedback during the session itself. Our role is to both witness and work to strengthen the relationship.

What ground is covered in a cycle of 2x2 coaching?

2x2 coaching begins with an opening session to build context and set goals for the engagement, clarifying what success looks like coming out of a given number of sessions.

For clients who have taken a Prism Assessment, we recommend focusing one session to debrief a Relationship Advisor report.

Subsequent sessions may focus on a subset of the desired goals or, in many cases, an existing example of a tension or open question unfolding in real time.

How should I show up for 2x2 coaching?

2x2 coaching is most successful when both parties come to the table with a sincere desire to improve the relationship, and with an open mind that improvement is possible. More specifically, 2x2 coaching clients should:

Be Open and Honest: Clients need to be transparent about their feelings, experiences, and challenges in order to identify underlying issues and work toward resolutions.

Set Clear Goals: Establishing specific, actionable goals helps give direction to the process. These goals might include improving communication, rebuilding trust, or aligning on future aspirations.

Take Accountability: Clients should be able to self-reflect, and willing to take responsibility for the impact of their own actions and behaviors.

Practice Communication: Clients will be asked to work on effective communication skills, such as active listening, expressing emotions clearly, and resolving conflict productively.

Commit to Change: Clients must be ready to make the necessary changes to improve the relationship. This might include altering ingrained habits, being patient, and practicing new approaches.

Remain Patient, Persistent, and Optimistic: Relationship changes take time; rebuilding or improving relationships can be a gradual process.
